The credibility of Platforms Africa, leading pan-African newspaper, was, again, reconfirmed at the weekend as its Team Lead, Adeola Yusuf, was declared by the prestigious Pan-Atlantic Varsity as one of the winners with Best Articles in Recognition and Rewards laurel.
The award, organised by the university for its Alumni in the Advanced Writing And Reporting Skills (AWARES), was sponsored by Chevron Nigeria Limited.
Director, Professional Education for the School, Isaac-Ogugua Ezechukwu, eulogised Platforms Africa‘s Adeola Yusuf and all the winners for being exceptional with their journalism careers.

The criteria used for grading the reports that won the awards, according to Ezechukwu, include “Organization – Writing shows high degree of attention to logic and reasoning of points. Unity clearly leads the reader to the conclusion and stirs thought regarding the topic; Level of Content – Content indicates synthesis of ideas, in-depth analysis and evidences original thought and support for the topic; Development – Main points well developed with high quality and quantity support. Reveals high degree of critical thinking; and Grammar & Mechanics – Essay is free of distracting spelling, punctuation, and grammatical errors; absent of fragments, comma splices, and run-ons.
“Others are tyle – Shows outstanding style going beyond usual college level; rhetorical devices and tone used effectively; creative use of sentence structure and coordination; Format – Meets all paragraph formats and requirements and evidences attention to detail; there is a smooth flow between paragraphs that enhances logical flow. Every paragraph is essential to the story; and Clear Focus and Unity (deals with content) – Focus of story is clear; nothing detracts from primary focus; everything contributes to overall angle.”
